Excellence for dancers

Dance Wanaka dancers were delighted to receive certificates of excellence for recent examinations this week.

Dancers Rachel Macpherson (18) and Grace Thomas (7) received highest examination marks in Australasia for their respective Jazz Addict levels of Solo Seal & Primary Jazz levels.  Elizabeth Pell (6) received a Certificate of Excellence for her Primary Ballet examination.

Dance Wanaka Director, Anna Thomas, said these certificates and scholarships are a credit to her students dedication and level of talent.  Examiners Joanne Stevens from Sydney (representative of British Ballet Organisation) and Corrine Yee from Auckland (Director of Asia Pacific Dance Association), were extremely impressed with the standard achieved by these students while touring throughout NZ, Australia and Asia.

Rachel was a well respected teacher at Dance Wanaka for the past 3 years and student for 10 years.  She recently moved to Wellington to study law and expand her dance interests.

There are 54 registered APDA dance schools in Australasia who sit examinations annually.

Dance Wanaka offers classes in Modern Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Contemporary and a preschool Sparkles programme.  Students 5+ years annually complete assessments mid year to build technical skills, and receive regular opportunities to perform onstage.
