Assessments

Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Ballet & Tap Assessments are in June (Term 2). BBOdance graded & major level ballet assessments are in September (term 3).

Assessments involve working towards respective levels & performing dance work to the best of your ability.  You will be awarded a certificate, ribbon & receive personalised feedback & a mark from an external examiner.  Check Frequently Asked Questions weblink for more helpful info online or refer to the Studio Handbook.

All classes 6+ years participate in assessments. Excludes all preschool classes, Mini Groovers, Primary 1 Ballet, Lil Popstar Jazz, Musical Theatre, Acro.

How to register

You do not need to complete any extra paperwork as this is completed by your teachers & the Studio Manager.  Paying the entry fee confirms your entry. Full name and date of birth details are used from the Studio Portal when submitting entries, so please check that these are correct. It will be helpful to let your teacher know if you will not be attending classes in term 2.

How to make payment

Fees will be added to your accounts and due by 24 March (APDA exams) and July (BBOdance exams). Late fees apply thereafter. All fees are collectively forwarded to examination organisations who independently coordinate & manage assessments very professionally.

Assessment fees

View fees here. They are also published on the noticeboard & in the Studio Handbook.

Assessment dates & timetables

Dates are normally confirmed in April once our school entries have been submitted. Mock (practise) assessments will be scheduled beforehand to ensure dancers are well prepared.  If there is a likelihood you may be away, we suggest you submit a late entry once we have confirmed assessment dates.  Entries must be submitted by 1st May (APDA) and 1 August (BBOdance).

Revision at home

Teachers video class work & share these on Google Classroom link to assist with revision at home. It is a closed social network where videos are shared amongst dancers in each class only.

APDA Student Zone:

It is possible to access and view professional videos of syllabus work on the APDA student zone to help with revision at home. For US$5 per month and access videos that our teachers view.

For any further questions about assessments, please chat to your teacher or the Studio Manager.
